Paper City ::: Day 07 ::: The shoot - x2

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 10:19 am

Day 07

With the city completed, the only thing we lacked was to document it for the album artwork. We setup lighting and made sure everything was perfect and set to shooting. The final proofs came out beyond beautiful. We’re really excited to release them when the artwork releases. <a href=”http://www.brentryangreen.com” target=”_blank”>Brent Ryan Green</a> came by to document the shoot on film. He’s doing a documentary on pwilkes.com photography and wanted the footage for the film. (the film is looking wonderful by the way, when it releases we’ll post a link on pwilkes.com.

From here we get the artwork ready, document all the buildings and their profiles for the book we will release in May, and begin preparing for the Non’s CD release. I hope everyone can make it out, it’s going to be quite a party!

(I’m trying to think who all was over the night of the shoot, my apologies if I leave off your name)

-Keegan, Jessica, Paul, Brent, Tanner, Lindse, LeighEllen, Blythe, Kyle, Jay, Jacob, Cara and probably some more (we we’re quite a crowd that night)

Keep safe

Paper City ::: Day 06 ::: The final steps towards completion

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:19 am

Today we have arrived at our next to last day. Every building has been painted on and inked, the clouds have been solidified, the city has been planned out with streets, the buildings placed in their places, the background solidified, power lines have been strung between buildings, trees placed, and all is almost right in our paper city.

The only thing we lack is the outskirt sprawl that will be suburbia. It will not take long and will be placed in the city on monday. From there we light it and shoot for the album! You don’t understand how excited we are.

Check out the detail work on the monorail, smoke stacks, and helicopter helipad. = )

Keep safe

Jessica, Kendra, Zack, Keegan, and Paul

ps - we recorded a time lapse video of us planning the city and placing all the buildings in about one minute intervals. As soon as it gets edited I’ll release it on this blog.

Day 06

Paper City ::: Day 05

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:00 am

Day 05 brings a leap forward with new buildings, more ink work, the beginnings of the finished monorail, and even the beginnings of the hospital helicopter. It doesn’t appear that we got anywhere on day 05 through the photographs or in real life, but we truly made some real progress. Enjoy

Paper City ::: Day 04 - Just some minor work

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 5:56 pm

Day 04 brings only a few changes. Keegan and Jessica have been hired to design a gallery space for some national illustrators whose work is coming through OKC and their deadline is Friday, so all day and night today will be spent on that gallery. But alas I had some free time this aftenroon so I worked on the monorail. I got the track finished and raised 3 inches off the ground with supports. It is also painted white. When we string the power lines I think I will add some string to the top to make it a sort of Cable Stayed or Suspension type bridge. (heck yeah i’ve done my research on bridges…this whole city is researched and designed to a T) We’re going to publish a book through Lulu.com publishing sometime in May about this project and it will have all of our research, designs, sketches, etc in it. I’m really excited about that. Alas here are the few changes from today. If I get any free time tonight I plan on designing and finishing the monorail train itself, which is the paper towel holder you see in one of the photographs below. Enjoy

We’re getting very close to doing the city planning, mapping out streets, neighborhoods etc, which will give the city soooo much definition and clarity. Tis exciting…really exciting. Peace

-Paul

Day 04

Paper City ::: Day 03 - More Buildings, Painted White, Ink Drawings and Details, the beginnings of the Monorail…

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 12:07 am

Day 03 has some fun new elements. All the major buildings from Day 01 and Day 02 have been painted white. Jessica has begun the sketches and inking the buildings and background. We’ve got some new buildings ready to add outskirts of downtown buildings once they get painted white. The beginnings of the monorail has begun. A stretch of it in the back of the city is already lifted off the ground. Exciting stuff! Keep with us, it’s only going to get better from here.

Peace and Blessings

Wil, Zack, Tim, Nathan, Kyle, Paul, Jessica, and Keegan

Paper City ::: Day 02 - More Downtown Buildings, Beginnings of Foliage, & a Crane

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 11:51 pm

Day 02 brings even more exciting changes. We’ve added 10+ new downtown buildings, some tall, some small. We’ve got the layout for the trees made and cut out. There’s now a building downtown that is “under construction” with the beginnings of a crane coming out of it.

From here we finish the crane, finish the trees, start working on suburban sprawl that will move outwards into the room, begin to work on the roads and layout of the city, PAINT EVERYTHING WHITE, work on alllll the details that will need to take place. Hope you enjoy.

Thanks for keeping up with Paper City,

Jessica, Keegan, Paul, Wil, and Tom
