A Great Run

So there comes a time when things must change.

It’s time for change on this blog. I’ve been overly enthused about using this blog as a place to share seemingly “cool” things that I’ve found on the internet and beyond. I’d really like to start digging through libraries, books, old collections, etc, to find more things to scan/photograph to put on this blog as well.

In my constant searching though, I’ve found that I really don’t appreciate how wordpress functions and would really like a better suited blog style for my mission.

Lately I have fallen in love with Tumblr. I know Tumblr has existed for quite some time, but I have never 1)experimented with or 2)experienced Tumblr to it’s full potential. The past few weeks I have been able to dive into the programming of Tumblr and see what it can do. I can easily see it’s potential.

I have built out a new blog to replace this one…maybe not REPLACE, in such the harsh term, but for now I want to move the content of this blog to a new home. It is primitive at the moment and very template-matic, but it will grow over time.

As you see it when you first arrive is as far as I’ve built it out, but it has many capabilities. The Quote post, the Text post, the Link post, the Music post. I have only built out the Picture post so far. I will get to those in due time and make them my own. I want to customize it a little bit more from here, but we’ll see with time.

I want it to be much like this current blog, if not identical, but I want it to be able to 1)function great and 2)look great, which i think is something that wordpress (while it COULD potentially do this, but with much more work and effort) falls short on.

You never know, I may be back on this wordpress blog in a few days, but I expect to stay with Tumblr for a while.

The new link is http://beauty.pwilkes.com

I hope to see you there.

Be sure to update your RSS feed, should you use one.

For now i’ll leave this blog up, as an archive. It’s been running since 2006, there is quite a bit of history here…but it feel it’s time for something new.

Keep in touch,

thanks for sticking with me, through it all,

let’s grow old together, that might be nice,

  1. I would certainly hope you would keep this thing going, at least for the large scale work. Nonetheless, that’s potentially the best work I’ve ever seen done with a Tumblr as far as layout and design. I would love to have something that well-put together on there.
